Our Pennsylvania Wrestling Champions
March 2003
John "Red" Scott and his wife Shirley (Photo below) are bursting with pride because two of their grandsons had earned the coveted trip to Hershey to wrestle for the Pennsylvania State Championships. Brock Scott, a junior at Juniata Valley High School in the 112 lb weight division, placed sixth in the entire state and his cousin Garrett Scott, a freshman, won the gold medal in the 119 lb division. The pictures below show Brock and Garrett on the evening of the parade of cheering fans that celebrated their achievements. A number of us were at the senior center making candy when the state championship wrestling matches were televised and needless to say, we all stopped what we were doing to watch the boys demonstrate their expertise. To have any relative earn the trip to Hershey is an outstanding moment, to actually have two earn the trip is unbelievable and a phenomenal accomplishment. Congratulations to the entire Scott Family from all of us at the Juniata Valley Senior Citizens' organization on their remarkable achievement. We genuinely share the joy and pride of Red and Shirley and the entire Scott family in this most remarkable event.
