Mary Elizabeth Porter:

Born June 13, 1915 in West Township, Huntingdon County, she was the daughter of J. Harry and Esther (Bell) Stewart. She was united in marriage to Wesley A. Porter on Nov. 24, 1937 at the bride's home in West Township. Mary Elizabeth was a member of the Mooresville United Methodist Church where she was very active, serving as Sunday School teacher and church treasurer. She was a member Lady Elks of BPOE No. 976, Huntingdon; Shavers Creek Fire Volunteer Fire Company; J. C. Blair Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and the Juniata Valley Senior Citizens' organization. A graduate of the vocational High School, Petersburg, she was also a graduate of the Altoona School of Commerce. She had been employed by the former J. C. Blair Company, Huntingdon; then for a number of years in the office of Paul Trout, CPA, Lancaster. She retired as a clerk from the office of the Huntingdon County Commissioners.
