James A. Getz

James A. Getz, 68, of 291 Washington Street, Petersburg, died at 6:27 p.m. Tuesday, September 9, 2003, in the emergency room at J. C. Blair Memorial Hospital in Huntingdon.
Born July 26, 1935, in Mount Union, he was the son of the late Joseph Andrew and Olive (Emery) Getz. He was united in marriage to Helen Marie Knode Nov. 6, 1954, at the 15th Street Methodist Church in Huntingdon by the Rev. Taylor.
He is survived by his wife at home; one son, Thomas Andrew Getz, and his wife, Carol of Petersburg, RR 1; two daughters, Peggy Sue (Getz) Ormsby of Petersburg, RR 1, and Tammy Marie Hamer, and her husband, Roger, of Alexandria; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Two brothers, Robert Getz and Donald Getz, and one sister, Elva Jane Pollicino, all of Mapleton, survive.
He was preceded in death by twin daughters, Karen Diane and Donna Kay, and a grandson, Todd A. Getz.
Mr. Getz was of the Methodist faith.
He was a past master of Mount Moriah Lodge No. 300 F&AM; past high priest of Standing Stone Royal Arch Chapter 201; past and present commander of Huntingdon Commandary No. 65; Knight of York Cross Honor in the Penn Priory; and PTIM/present principal conductor of work for Nittany Counsel No. 57.
He was a member of Tall Cedars/Chief Logan Forrest No. 131 and the Order of the Silver Trowel.
He was also a member of Loyal Order of Moose Lodge No. 223, Huntingdon; Juniata Valley Senior Citizens; Alexandria Sportsmens Club; and the Home Association for the Petersburg American Legion and Standing Stone VFW Post No. 1754, Huntingdon.
Mr. Getz was first employed by the J. C. Blair Co. and its successor, Westab for 14 years and retired from Local No. 66 Operating Engineers, Clearfield, with 33 years of service.
He was an avid hunter and fisherman.
A Masonic memorial service conducted by the Mount Moriah Lodge No. 300 F&AM was held at the Robert E. Peters Funeral Home in Huntingdon on Friday, Sept. 12.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, Sept 13 at the Robert E. Peters Funeral Home in Huntingdon. Interment in Bowman's Chapel Cemetery, Mapleton, RR.
