Martha Inez Scott:
Martha Inez Scott, 86, of 588 King St., Petersburg, died at 7:39 a.m. Wed., Feb. 26, 2003, at J. C. Blair Memorial Hospital, Huntingdon.
Born Jan. 1, 1917, at her family home in Petersburg, she was a daughter of the late George Ashman and Mary Ellen (Ross) McFarland.
She was united in marriage to Donald Melvin Scott June 10, 1950, at Washington Square Methodist Church, Hagerstown, MD, with the Rev. Charles LeFe officiating. Mr. Scott survives at their residence.
Two sons survive: George W. Mills Sr. of Alexandria and Danny M. Scott of Petersburg.
She is also survived by four grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and a great-great grandaughter.
The last surviving member of her immediate family, she was preceded in death by four sisters, Peg O'Conner, Elizabeth McFarland, Maxine Hicks and Jenny Fultz, and five brothers, Carl McFarland, Ross McFarland, Elmer McFarland, Guy McFarland, and Bobby McFarland.
Mrs. Scott was a member of Crever Memorial United Methodist Church, Petersburg, where she was a the church organist for 48 years.
She was a member of American Legion Post No. 150 Auxiliary, Petersburg.
A 1935 graduate of the Vocational High School, Petersburg, she retired from Technitrol in 1977. She had worked for a long number of years for Technitrol and its predecessors.
She was a lifetime resident of Petersburg.
Especially fond of making afghans, she enjoyed knitting and crocheting.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. , Feb. 28, at the Cutright-Speck Funeral Home -Juniata Valley Chapel 412 Main Street, Alexandria, with Pastor Randy Willis officiating. Interment was made in the Cedar Grove Cemetery, Petersburg.
